The Cold War
The Russian Civil War
The Chinese Civil War
The Cuban Revolution
The Korean War

These are just a couple examples of the conservatives being on the right side of history

Dem's were the conservatives then. I can admit they were wrong.

The civil war, too?

Yes. Lincoln and the Union Army defeated the conservative confederate south. Lincoln was a liberal.

Thats not quite accurate. Lincoln was a republican. The southern politicians were democrats.

The Four Factions of Lincoln’s Era: The Whig/Republicans, the “Know-Nothing” Constitutional Union, the Southern Democrats, and the Free Soil Party
This will make more sense if we consider the four factions of Lincoln’s era explicitly, they were:

The Northern liberal Whig/Republicans,
The Nativist Know-Nothing [sometimes] allies of the Whig/Republicans,
The Southern Democrats and their Northern allies (who supported slavery), and
The Free Soil [sometimes] allies of the Democrats who took a “libertarian” like position.

If you want to call them „liberal“ republicans, sure.

Calling them what they were, all the way through Ike in 1956.

Ike's 1956 REPUBLICAN Campaign Platform.

He beat Adlai Stevenson II in 1952 and again in 1956 with over
400 electoral votes in each election.

1. Provide federal assistance to low-income families.
2. Protect Social Security.
3. Provide asylum for refugees.
4. Extend minimum wage.
5. Improve unemployment benefits so it covers more people
6. Strengthen labor laws so workers can easily join a union.
7. Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of sex.

Republican voters overwhelmingly agreed with him. But that was back
in the day when they were still the Liberal Party.

Sounds "Liberal" to me. I would have voted for Ike 🤣

And many of those values remain true today. Except for social security, which is a terrible idea.

1. Provide federal assistance to low-income families.🤪
3. Provide asylum for refugees. 🤪
1 up, 2w
I think assistance for low income is a good thing. And you know what the best kind of assistance is? Lower taxes.
Refugees have been given asylum.

I think we agree on all of this.

Whigs were pro-slavery. There wasn’t a need for two pro-slavery parties. Democrat party was the one that survived, because it was more resolute in keeping it.

Abraham Lincoln was a member of the Whig Party before he became a Republican. He joined the Whig Party in the 1830s and served as a Whig congressman from Illinois from 1847 to 1849.

So, Lincoln left a pro-slavery party and helped promote a free slave party. Now is your chance to do the same, and abandon the dying Democrat party.

Democrats were on the wrong side of: Northern Democrats supported The Fugitive Slave Act. Women’s Suffrage. Wilson Desegregated the military and Government buildings. FDR started redlining. LBJ stopped Eisenhower’s Civil Rights Act of 1957 which was stronger than the 1964 Act. LBJ Vietnam. Always is not even close. Projection, insults, and lies, the Democrat playbook.

Irrelevant label. Democrats started the KKK, and outlawed gun ownership by blacks in the South. Democrats forced Native Americans to relocate. Wrong side of history. Clearly projection, Republicans weren’t “Always “ on the wrong side.

Conservative, liberal labels are totally irrelevant.
Today’s conservative are on the right side of Border control, no testosterone advantaged athletes in women’s sports, EV and vaccine mandates, voter integrity and the upcoming birthright citizenship.

Democrats were the conservatives at that point in time.

President Lyndon B. Johnson is famously quoted as saying that by signing the Civil Rights Act, he had effectively given the South to the Republican Party for a generation. This statement reflects his understanding of the political consequences of the civil rights legislation, particularly in relation to the Southern Democratic base.

Johnson recognized that the Civil Rights Act would alienate many white Southern voters who had traditionally supported the Democratic Party. His comment underscores the significant political realignment that was occurring at the time, as the Democratic Party began to embrace civil rights, leading to a shift of many Southern whites toward the Republican Party. This shift was a key factor in the transformation of the political landscape in the United States during the latter half of the 20th century.
